The Community Leadership Program (CLP) recognizes many young peoples’ potential remains unrealized not having opportunities to explore their personal abilities in a truly meaningful way. The meaning (or power) in CLP comes from each member’s personal desire to make their community better for themselves and those around them.

CLP Classes: in our first of many meetings, each member is encouraged to express their concerns and/or ideas for change in their community. The following meeting the group gets to vote on the projects identified as doable by the CLP’s consortium of top-notch teachers and professionals (depending on resources and session time).

Once students vote on the CLP group project for the session; strategizing for success begins immediately. There is no end to CLP projects ranging from community gardens to environmemtal conservation to school juice vending machines, skate parks and/or clubs.

And in addition to CLP’s set curriculum learning outcomes and competencies for its members there are learning opportunities abound within each unique project for members to identify and apply their newly acquired real life tools and professional training.

The understanding and application of critical thinking skills is yet another radical learning outcome from this innovative program with every member taking part in the conceptualization, discussion, and development of their group’s community improvement project.

These essential life skills and professional training are the basis of CLP’s philosophy and the foundation for most successful people and professionals.
